HEV IgM- first HEV IgM ELISA diagnostic kit which utilizes
“Antibody Capture Method”
Hepatitis E, which was previously called enterically transmitted
non-A non-B hepatitis, is caused by infection with hepatitis E virus
(HEV), an RNA virus that is still unclassified. HEV is transmitted
through the fecal-oral route, predominately through contaminated
water or food supplies with sporadic outbreaks.
The early detection of HEV antibodies is critical for the efficient
treatment and prevention of the spread of the disease and in
comparison with other diseases, detection of IgM antibodies can be a
reliable marker for acute infection. Although assays for detection
of HEV IgM are available, this approach is still not applicable for
routine diagnosis due to the insufficient performances of
sensitivity and specificity, high rate of false negative results
,the method employed (indirect ELISA), and because of the quality of
the proteins applied with the commercially available kits. Moreover,
most of the available HEV – IgM kits can detect IgM positive
seroconversion, late after IgG is already detected positive.
Wantai HEV IgM ELISA assay is sensitive and specific and is very
useful for the early diagnosis of acute hepatitis E. It overcomes
the low sensitivity of the traditional assays, and can precisely
distinguish current from past HEV infection.
It is the first HEV IgM ELISA diagnostic kit which utilizes
“Antibody Capture Method” thus with better sensitivity and
specificity.
